In this successful case study, the challenge was to get targeted traffic for an online vape store in the Czech Republic under restrictions on the use of other promotion channels.

Due to the specific nature of the product, channels such as contextual advertising or social media are often subject to restrictions, making their use either impossible or ineffective for this niche. Therefore, the focus was on SEO optimization as the main tool for attracting targeted visitors.

Semantics Gathering

At the initial stage of promoting an online vape store in the Czech Republic, the key moment was the formation of basic semantics for the initial optimization of the site.


This process proved to be particularly difficult and required a deep dive into the specifics of the market and the needs of the target audience, given that the target region has its own peculiarities and linguistic nuances. Leading SEO analysis tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, Serpstat and Keywordtool were used to gather the semantic core. These services provide extensive capabilities to analyze keywords, study competitors and track search engine positions. However, the main challenge was that most of these tools are optimized for English-language queries and markets, which created additional barriers when working with the Czech Internet segment.


To overcome this barrier, a strategy of careful manual data collection and analysis was employed, which included exploring Czech-language online resources, forums, social media and other platforms where the target audience discusses vaping-related topics. This allowed not only to discover unique and relevant keywords and phrases used by Czech users, but also to understand their needs, preferences and online behavior.

Competitor Analysis

Competitor analysis is an integral part of the SEO optimization process, especially in such competitive niches as an online vape store. This stage allowed us not only to identify successful promotion strategies and methods used by competitors, but also to identify potential opportunities to improve our own site.

 

The main focus was on studying the link profile of competitors, which provided insight into the quality and authoritative resources linking to their sites. This allowed us to identify valuable sources for backlinks, which is crucial for improving search engine positions and increasing the credibility of the site. In parallel, a comprehensive content strategy was developed that focused on creating high quality and useful content that would be of interest not only to potential customers, but also to web resources potentially interested in placing backlinks. This included guest articles on thematic platforms, informative articles, detailed guides and infographics revealing key aspects of vaping and the store’s products.

 

To reach out to potential backlink sources, a customized approach was developed that included carefully crafted partnership proposals based on the mutual benefit and value of the content offered. Each proposal was tailored to a specific resource, significantly increasing the likelihood of successful placement. An important aspect of the strategy was the introduction of a system for monitoring and analyzing the effectiveness of backlinks received, which allowed us to assess their contribution to the promotion of the site and, if necessary, to adjust approaches to building a link profile. This provided the opportunity to continuously improve the strategy of external links and optimization of resources aimed at site promotion.

 

We would like to note an interesting feature that was discovered during the analysis of the Czech issue. Because of the war in Ukraine, the Czech Republic has received a large number of immigrants, because of which Ukrainian-language queries began to appear in the local search. Naturally, this did not go unnoticed, and we suggested creating an additional page, which started receiving clicks just a few weeks after its creation. Technical Website Optimization

A technical audit of a website is a critical stage in the SEO optimization process, as it identifies potential technical problems that can hinder the successful promotion of a website in search engines. In the case of an online vape store in the Czech Republic, an in-depth technical audit was conducted using the Screaming Frog tool, which allowed us to analyze the state of the site in detail and identify areas for further optimization.

Collecting data about the pages of the website

Screaming Frog was used to conduct a comprehensive scan of the web resource, which provided a complete picture of the site’s structure, including each page’s URL, meta tag usage, headings, internal link structure, and other key elements. This information became the basis for identifying technical deficiencies and planning their remediation.

Optimization of meta tags and headings

Based on the findings, meta tags and headings on all pages of the site were thoroughly optimized. Special attention was paid to H1, H2 and H3 headings to ensure they were relevant to key queries and to improve content structure.
Each page’s meta tags were customized to be unique and relevant to the content, helping to improve search engine clickability.

Improving internal re-linking

Developing an internal re-linking strategy has helped to strengthen the structure of the site and improve navigation for users. It also promotes better page weight distribution and increases the authority of key sections of the site in the eyes of search engines.

Image Optimization

Optimization of all images on the site was performed, including correct filling of Alt and title attributes, which improves image indexing and makes the site more accessible for users with disabilities.

Customizing the robots.txt file

Optimization of the robots.txt file allowed to exclude unnecessary or duplicate pages from indexing, thereby focusing the attention of search engines on important and quality content of the site.

XML sitemap creation

Developing and maintaining an up-to-date XML sitemap ensures that all relevant pages are quickly and efficiently indexed by search engines, improving your site’s overall search engine visibility.

Effectiveness

Each of these steps was implemented to not only eliminate technical deficiencies of the site, but also to create a solid foundation for its further promotion and increase user satisfaction.
